What is SmartLabs?

What is SmartLabs?

We are an app development shop for early stage or resource-strapped social enterprises, charities, and non-profits that need software solutions to serve a core function of their operations. SmartLabs is part of Smart Solutions, a national Canadian student organization that runs international development conferences and case competitions for over 1000 students a year.

What We Do

What do we do?

We focus on web and mobile applications because of their low cost and scale. For each client, we put together a team of volunteer computer science, design, and business students to build and implement our solutions.

Why We Do It

Why did we create SmartLabs?

We realized that there are a lot of high-impact social sector organizations that are doing great work but lack the capital, technical expertise or personell to build software solutions that would make a big difference in their 'on-the-ground' work. At the same time, there are a lot of talented students whose skills are underutilized. Many students are looking for opportunities to get practical experience and apply their skills to 'real-world' problems.

Get Involved

How can I get involved?

We are currently accepting applications for our second cohort. We are looking for developers, project managers, and advisors with computer software industry experience.
